OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) _ YRC Worldwide Inc. (YRCW) on Thursday reported third-quarter profit of $2.9 million.

The Overland Park, Kansas-based company said it had net income of 9 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 13 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 55 cents per share.

The trucking company posted revenue of $1.3 billion in the period, topping Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.29 billion.

YRC shares have declined 42 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has decreased 38 percent in the last 12 months.

The Overland Park, Kansas-based company said it had a loss of 23 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 9 cents per share.

The trucking company posted revenue of $1.15 billion in the period, surpassing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.14 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $21.5 million, or 65 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $4.7 billion.

YRC shares have risen 13 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $15.02, an increase of 40 percent in the last 12 months.
