Urban Outfitters beats by $0.07, beats on revs 
  • Reports Q2 (Jul) earnings of $0.84 per share, $0.07 better thanthe S&P Capital IQ Consensus of $0.77; revenues rose 13.7% year/year to $992.5 mln vs the $980.19 mln S&P Capital IQ Consensus. 
  • Comparable Retail segment net sales increased 13%, driven by strong, double-digit growth in the digital channel and positive retail store sales. By brand, comparable Retail segment net sales increased 17% at Free People, 15% at Urban Outfitters and 11% at the Anthropologie Group. Wholesale segment net sales increased 10%. 
  • For the three months ended July 31, 2018, the gross profit rate improved by 180 basis points Y/Y. The improvement in gross profit rate for both periods was driven by lower markdowns at all three brands and leverage in store occupancy cost due to strong Retail segment comparable net sales. These gains were partially offset by deleverage in delivery expense due in part to the increased penetration of the digital channel.

Urban Outfitters beats by $0.08, beats on revs; comps -4.9% 
  • Reports Q2 (Jul) earnings of $0.44 per share, $0.08 better thanthe Capital IQ Consensus of $0.36; revenues fell 2.0% year/year to $873 mln vs the $860.8 mln Capital IQ Consensus.
  • Comparable Retail segment net sales, which include the comparable direct-to-consumer channel, decreased 4.9%. By brand, comparable Retail segment net sales increased 2.9% at Free People, but decreased 4.0% at the Anthropologie Group and 7.9% at Urban Outfitters. The decline in comparable Retail segment net sales was due to negative retail store sales, which was partially offset by continued sales growth in our direct-to-consumer channel.
  • Wholesale segment net sales increased 10%.
  • For the three and six months ended July 31, 2017, the gross profit rate decreased 440 basis points and 369 basis points versus the prior year's comparable periods, respectively.
  • As of July 31, 2017, total inventory decreased by $2 mln, or 0.6%, on a year-over-year basis. Comparable Retail segment inventory decreased 4.6% at cost, which was partially offset by inventory to stock non-comparable stores.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Urban Outfitters Inc. (URBN) on Tuesday reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income of $64.3 million.
On a per-share basis, the Philadelphia-based company said it had profit of 55 cents.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 16 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 56 cents per share.
The clothing and accessories retailer posted revenue of $1.03 billion in the period, matching Street forecasts.
For the year, the company reported profit of $218.1 million, or $1.86 per share. Revenue was reported as $3.55 billion.
Urban Outfitters shares have decreased 11 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased almost 6 percent. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $25.41, a drop of roughly 10 percent in the last 12 months.

Urban Outfitters beats by $0.05, reports revs in-line :
  • Reports Q4 (Jan) earnings of $0.61 per share, $0.05 better than the Capital IQ Consensus of $0.56; revenues rose 0.2% year/year to $1.01 bln vs the $1.02 bln Capital IQ Consensus.
  • Comparable Retail segment netsales, which include comparable direct-to-consumer channel, decreased 2%.Comparable Retail segment net sales increased 2% at Free People and decreased2% at the Anthropologie Group and 3% at Urban Outfitters. Wholesale segment netsales increased 29% partially due to delayed shipments from the third quartercarrying over into the fourth quarter.
  • "While apparel sales underperformed during the fourth quarter, I am pleased withthe merchandise margin improvement delivered by the brands," said Richard A.Hayne, Chief Executive Officer. "Additionally, our expansion categoriesperformed above our expectations and continue to give us confidence in ourfuture growth opportunities," finished Mr. Hayne.

Urban Outfitters reports EPS in-line, misses on revs  :
  • Reports Q3 (Oct) earnings of $0.42 per share, in-line with the Capital IQ Consensus of $0.42; revenues rose 1.3% year/year to $825.25 mln vs the $869.61 mln Capital IQ Consensus.
  • Comparable Retail segment net sales, which include our comparable direct-to-consumer channel, increased 1%. Comparable Retail segment net sales increased 3% at Free People and 1% at Urban Outfitters, while the Anthropologie Group was flat. Wholesale segment net sales declined 5% due to shipment delays at our new distribution facility in Gap, Pennsylvania. 
  • The gross profit rate increased by 11 basis points versus the prior year's comparable period. The increase in gross profit rate was primarily driven by almost 150 basis points of improvement in the Company's maintained margin due to significant improvement in the Urban Outfitters brand markdown rate which was partially offset by lower maintained margins in the Anthropologie Group and Free People retail segments. The Company's maintained margin improvement was partially offset by approximately 100 basis points of deleverage in delivery and fulfillment center expenses primarily related to the ongoing transition of our South Carolina fulfillment center to Gap, Pennsylvania, and increased direct-to-consumer sales penetration.
