Syntel beats by $0.16, beats on revs; guides FY17 EPS above consensus, revs above consensus
  • Reports Q3 (Sep) earnings of $0.58 per share, $0.16 better than the Capital IQ Consensus of $0.42; revenues fell 4.1% year/year to $231.3 mln vs the $217.37 mln Capital IQ Consensus.
    • Q3 cash & short term investments of $109 mln. 
    • The Company's gross margin was 38.1% in the third quarter, compared to 39.2% in the prior-year period and 35.9% in the second quarter of 2017. Selling, General and Administrative (SG&A) expenses were 11.7% of revenue in the third quarter, compared to 12.2% in the prior-year period and 12.7% in the previous quarter.
  • Co issues upside guidance for FY17, sees EPS of $1.81-1.88 vs. $1.72 Capital IQ Consensus Estimate; sees FY17 revs of $890-902 mln vs. $883.41 mln Capital IQ Consensus Estimate.
  • "We continued to deepen our strategic relationships during the third quarter," said Syntel CEO and President Rakesh Khanna. "In particular, contribution from the 4 to 50 client segment grew faster than the overall company."
