Revlon (REV) reported earnings on 5 May 17 (b/o)

  • REV : Q1 adj. EPS ($0.23) vs. $0.25; rev +35% to $595 mln driven by the acquisition of Elizabeth Arden (-6% pro forma). 

NEW YORK (AP) _ Revlon Inc. (REV) on Friday reported a first-quarter loss of $37.4 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had a loss of 71 cents. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 23 cents per share.
The beauty products maker posted revenue of $594.9 million in the period.
Revlon shares have dropped 13 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 31 percent in the last 12 months.

NEW YORK (AP) _ Revlon Inc. (REV) reported a fourth-quarter loss of $36.5 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had a loss of 70 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 43 cents per share.
The beauty products maker posted revenue of $800.7 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported a loss of $21.9 million, or 42 cents per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $2.33 billion.
Revlon shares have risen 17 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped slightly more than 4 percent in the last 12 months.

Elizabeth Arden (RDEN) acquired by Revlon (REV) for US $870 million.

The company was founded as Red Door salon on Fifth Avenue in 1910. Arden's company was then sold to Eli Lilly and Company in 1971 for $38 million ($224,721,446 today).
Eli Lilly and Company sold Arden to Fabergé in 1987 for $657 million.
Arden's cosmetics company was bought from Unilever in 2003 by FFI for $225 million, a New York company.
