Qorvo beats by $0.22, reports revs in-line; guides Q4 EPS above consensus, revs in-line

• Reports Q3 (Dec) earnings of $2.98 per share, $0.22 better than the S&P Capital IQ Consensus of $2.76; revenues rose 1.8% year/year to $1.11 bln vs the $1.11 bln S&P Capital IQ Consensus.
• Co issues guidance for Q4, sees EPS of $2.94 at the midpoint vs. $2.86 S&P Capital IQ Consensus; sees Q4 revs of $1.135-$1.165 bln vs. $1.15 bln S&P Capital IQ Consensus. Sees Non-GAAP gross margin of approximately 52%.
• Qorvo outperformed the midpoint of our guidance in the December quarter on revenue, gross margin and EPS. Reports Q2 (Sep) earnings of $1.52 per share, excluding non-recurring items, $0.22 better than the S&P Capital IQ Consensus of $1.30; revenues fell 8.8% year/year to $806.7 mln vs the $754.67 mln S&P Capital IQ Consensus.

Co issues upside guidance for Q3 (Dec), sees EPS of approx $1.67, excluding non-recurring items, vs. $1.35 S&P Capital IQ Consensus; sees Q3 revs of $840-860 mln vs. $761.25 mln S&P Capital IQ Consensus.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) _ Qorvo Inc. (QRVO) on Wednesday reported a loss of $33.1 million in its fiscal third quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Greensboro, North Carolina-based company said it had a loss of 26 cents. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs and pretax expenses, were $1.69 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.60 per share.

The chipmaker posted revenue of $845.7 million in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $840.9 million.

Qorvo shares have risen roughly 8 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $71.77, a climb of 12 percent in the last 12 months.

• Reports Q2 (Sep) earnings of $1.29 per share, excluding non-recurring items, $0.12 worse than the Capital IQ Consensus of $1.41; GAAP revenues rose 22.2% year/year to $864.7 mln vs the $834.85 mln Capital IQ Consensus.
  • On a non-GAAP basis, gross margin was 42.8%.
• Co issues guidance for Q3, sees EPS of $1.15-1.35, excluding non-recurring items, vs. $1.45 Capital IQ Consensus Estimate; sees Q3 non-GAAP revs of $800-840 mln, may not be comparable to $845.40 mln Capital IQ Consensus Estimate. GAAP sequential gross margin expansion of 100 to 200 bps.
