FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) _ Community Health Systems Inc. (CYH) on Wednesday reported a loss of $110 million in its third quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Franklin, Tennessee-based company said it had a loss of 98 cents. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 77 cents per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 13 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 30 cents per share.
The operator of accute care hospitals posted revenue of $3.67 billion in the period, which also fell short of Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.72 billion.
Community Health Systems expects a full-year loss of $1.30 to $1.20 per share.

Community Health Systems (CYH) reported earnings on Mon 1 May 2017 (a/h)

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) _ Community Health Systems Inc. (CYH) on Monday reported a first-quarter loss of $199 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Franklin, Tennessee-based company said it had a loss of $1.79. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 8 cents per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 12 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 6 cents per share.
The operator of accute care hospitals posted revenue of $4.49 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Ten analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.34 billion.
Community Health Systems expects full-year revenue in the range of $15.8 billion to $16.2 billion.
Community Health Systems shares have climbed 54 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $8.62, a fall of 55 percent in the last 12 months.

  • Reports Q4 (Dec) earnings of $0.46 per share, $0.27 better than the Capital IQ Consensus of $0.19; revenues fell 6.9% year/year to $4.47 bln vs the $4.39 bln Capital IQ Consensus.
    • Cash flow from operations was $327 million, compared with $306 million for the same period in 2015, representing a 6.9% increase.
    • On a same-store basis, both admissions and adjusted admissions decreased 1.4%, compared with the same period in 2015.
  • FY17 guidance
    • Co issues guidance for FY17 (Dec), sees EPS of $0.30-1.10 vs. $0.61 Capital IQ Consensus Estimate; sees FY17 (Dec) revs of $15.8-16.2 bln, may not be comparable to $17.04 bln Capital IQ Consensus Estimate.
