HOUSTON (AP) _ Sysco Corp. (SYY) on Monday reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $267.4 million.
The Houston-based company said it had profit of 51 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for restructuring costs and pretax expenses, were 75 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 72 cents per share.
The food distributor posted revenue of $14.77 billion in the period.
Sysco shares have increased 1.5 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 8 percent. The stock has climbed roughly 4 percent in the last 12 months.
