OLNEY, Md. (AP) _ Sandy Spring Bancorp Inc. (SASR) on Thursday reported second-quarter profit of $24.4 million.

The bank, based in Olney, Maryland, said it had earnings of 68 cents per share.

The holding company for Sandy Spring Bank posted revenue of $93.5 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $78.7 million, which did not meet Street forecasts.

Sandy Spring Bancorp shares have climbed 9 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed slightly more than 7 percent in the last 12 months.
