Wal-Mart beats by $0.02, reports revs in-line; guides Q4 EPS in-line:
  • Reports Q3 (Oct) earnings of $0.98 per share, $0.02 better than the Capital IQ Consensus of $0.96; revenues rose 0.5% year/year to $117.18 bln vs the $117.86 bln Capital IQ Consensus. Currency negatively impacted EPS by approximately $0.03.
    • Walmart U.S. comp sales increased 1.2% (in-line with guidance for +1.0-1.5%), driven by a traffic increase of 0.7%. Neighborhood Market comp sales increased approximately 5.2%.
  • Co issues in-line guidance for Q4, sees EPS of $1.18-1.33 vs. $1.32 Capital IQ Consensus Estimate. Sees Q4 Walmart U.S. comps of +1.0% to +1.5%; sees Sam's Club (ex. fuel) comps +1.0% to +1.5%
  • Co issues in-line guidance for FY17, sees EPS of $4.20-4.35 vs. $4.33 Capital IQ Consensus Estimate.
  • "We had a solid third quarter. Our e-commerce growth accelerated, operations in the U.S. continued to strengthen and international delivered another solid performance."
