Akamai Technologies, Inc.(NASDAQ:AKAM) said on Wednesday that it expected first quarter earnings in the range between 50 and 52 cents a share on revenues of $352 and $362 million. This is much below what analysts have estimated and shares in the company plunged 18 percent in pre-open session.
Analysts on average were expecting earnings of 47 cents per share on revenue of $370.1 million.
The company provides content on the Internet and its customers include Facebook, Netflix, Apple, Sony, News Corp, Nintendo and NBC.
