Advanced Micro shares slide 5.2% to $5.33 after hours following word from the chip maker that its second-quarter revenue is expected to fall 11% from a year ago.
The outlook sheds a dim light on AMD’s future, especially since the company originally expected revenue to be flat to up as much as 6% in its prior quarterly forecast.
AMD cites “a weaker consumer buying environment,” and “softer-than-expected channel sales” in China and Europe. AMD reports results after the close on July 19.
